School of Architecture Reality TV Series

a reality series (a serious one) that showcase an Architecture School. The Sundance Channel chose the Tulane School of Architecture, and the URBANbuild studio platform. This platform is directed by professor Byron Mouton, and the students have, not only an opportunity to design a house, but they get to build it for a neighborhood in post-Katrina New Orleans. It's not just reality, it is relevant

YAF thanks Burke, Hogue & Mills for hosting event

On June 4, the staff of Burke, Hogue & Mills hosted a tour of their new office building in Lake Mary. With nearly 50 YAF and USGBC Emerging Green Builders in attendance the event was quite a success. The YAF and EGB wish to thank Burke, Hogue & Mills for taking the time to share with us. We wish them the best in the completion of the project and in achieving the recognition as the first LEED certified architecture office in the state.

The City of Orlando Architecture & Design Studio, within the City Planning Division, is currently looking to fufill a position that would be working with 3D Vis, revit, sketch-up and other virtual programs to expand the Virtual Orlando program, as well as other architectural reviews of Downtown and City project. Central Florida Commuter Rail

You may have noticed in the Orlando Sentinel over the weekend that the Florida Legislature did not approve the necessary funding for Commuter Rail in Central Florida. While there still seems to be a glimmer of hope from Senator Mica's address this afternoon things still appear dim. Having for a time been subjected to the commute on I-4 from Deltona and now working on a station design for Orange County I have been following these events closely. I for one would be very disappointed if this does not happen for our region. Let us know your thoughts on commuter rail.

Florida Cottage Design Competition

A jury will select 10 entries, which will be presented at the Fourth Annual Emerging Professionals Conference, October 17-18 in Miami. Cash prizes will be awarded at the Conference for first, second and third place winners!
